One expects public officials to be able to pass the smell test when put under the media microscope. Caldwell County's firing of a jailer who turned in two peers having a sexual interlude does not pass the smell test. I was once Chairman of an Ethics Commission where we convicted public officials on the appearance of impropriety. I would have a very difficult time supporting the firing of this jailer on what appears to be a public relations ploy to preserve the workings of the good ol boy fun and games when the perpetrators got disciplined.

well, LOL this brings back some terrifying memories of Texas for me:
I worked in a jail there. What a horrifying, eye-opening experience that was! And not because of the inmates. I got called some of the most sickening names by some of the most sadistic, creepy MFs on earth, all with badges and uniforms. I got to where I trusted the inmates much more than my sadist coworkers.
