A World War II veteran once shared a story that suggested that his late wife had set in place a very high bar when it comes to marital trust for any future wives to meet.
This veteran said he had sent money home regularly to his wife while he was in the war overseas. En route home, this veteran was apprehensive about how his wife had used the money.
I gathered that he was able to hide his marital mistrust worry; he said, she greeted him by making love until he was sated sexually. Then she left the room and came back with a bank book with every cent he had sent home over the years in a savings account.
I concluded that the great trust he had in his late wife made it difficult for him to accept another woman. He was always looking very closely at relationships, I guess hoping to find a clone of his late wife whom he loved in her grave. His last relationship was with a woman, I guestimate, 35 years younger than he was.
You might think an old man would become enchanted by his lady friend’s youth, thereby, becoming emotionally blinded to her actions. This old man was very brilliant and alert for we often debated the world and national issues of the day. He had this young woman live with him for a while but he never once spoke of marriage or lovingly about her.
When she moved out he knew we were close enough friends that he needed to tell me what happened. This veteran shared that she was exploiting him as a “sugar daddy” by getting his money to use on something else.
He believed she had a gigolo providing for her sexual needs. She had obviously underestimated his intelligence and enchantment with her youth. There was no doubt this veteran did not accept mistrust as the norm in marriage or relationship.
When I ponder the World War II veteran’s plight with a younger female I find myself wondering is Playboy Hugh Hefner really the world’s number one sugar daddy? A man over 80 years old may need plenty of help sexually sating his young girlfriends. We know Hefner for his Playboy bunnies and playboy lifestyle, but unless he is the “Energizer bunny” or has a penis prosthesis surely the paparazzo will introduce the world to his gigolos in waiting.
I wonder, is Hefner enchanted with young beautiful women to the point where he accepts sexual mistrust as the price he is willing to pay to maintain his playboy fantasy? I trust Hefner realizes that he is jousting with the Grim-reaper because nature may have deteriorated his body to where the strains of regularly sexual activity causes sudden death. Thus, Hefner wants to keep in mind that the Grim-reaper does not care about your wealth, flamboyance, or power when he pursues you.
