I get distressed when I am reading about a person raising concern over the missing grandparents due to their deaths when children growing up in the hood with “baby daddy” and young mothers may have no idea who their grandparents are. My parental grandparents died before my birth and my maternal grandparents lived hundreds of miles away. Family friends became respected grandparent surrogates.
